Even when I started Distorted View many
years ago, I always treated it as a
part-time job. While it's always been a
fun project, the ultimate goal was to do
it for a living. I thought I reached
that goal in the summer of 2000 when I
started working at an Internet talk
radio company in Dallas, Texas.
Unfortunately, Internet talk radio was
never really successful and the company
declared bankruptcy just as the dot com
bubble was bursting.
I started podcasting in December 2004
and it wasn't long for companies to
start cropping up promising to make
podcasters $RICH$ by lining up
sponsorship deals. Aside from a few rare
cases, that didn't happen. I didn't have
the type of show most advertisers would
like to be associated with. What I did
have, however, was a lot of listeners.
Listeners who enjoyed the fucked-upedness
of DV. I decided to try doing the show
for a living without advertisers.
The Distorted View Sideshow is an
inexpensive service that gives paying
listeners even more content than is
offered on the free show. Members get
extended programs (typically extended
shows range from 35-55 minutes in
length), plus video-casts, exclusive
member-only shows, and extra's you won't
find anywhere else (like DV ringtones).
It's easy to sign up, inexpensive, and
you can even get the extra content
automatically sent to your computer
using a password protected RSS feed! I'm
always trying to think up new ways to
say "Thank You" to my listeners, so
there will always be new things popping
up on the Sideshow. What are you waiting
for? Sign up now, and help feed my nasty
coke habit.
Yours in
Christ,
